Before he took up the role of CEO BBC Worldwide and Director, Global, Tim Davie was made Acting Director-General following the resignation of George Entwistle on 10 November 2012. Prior to this Tim was Director of BBC Audio & Music (now known as Radio). He had overall responsibility for BBC Radios 1, 2, 3, 4 and the BBC digital-only stations 6 Music, 1Xtra, Radio 4 Extra (formerly Radio 7) and the Asian Network. He also oversaw the three BBC orchestras in England, the BBC Singers and the BBC Proms. Classical Music & Performance Television, Television Music Entertainment, Factual Radio and Radio Drama production are all within his remit, under the A&M Production department. Tim was appointed to the role of Director, Audio & Music on 1 September 2008. Previously he was Director of the BBC’s Marketing, Communications & Audiences division from April 2005 and before that Vice President, Marketing and Franchise, PepsiCo Europe. He read English at Cambridge University and from there joined Procter and Gamble’s marketing department, becoming a Brand Manager in 1991. Together with Predrag Popovic, Soeren was involved in founding Fincore’s predecessor, Finsoft, in 1995. Before that, he held a variety of roles in investment banking, focusing on risk management and, latterly, on e-commerce. Soeren is an inveterate problem solver, and his passion for mathematics, and particular understanding of the mechanics of risk and random events, has resulted in Fincore’s software being designed and used to address a wide range of complex business challenges. He has overseen the growth and commercial success of Fincore, evolving the business from its starting point in IT professional services to offering a suite of off-the-shelf products on a software as a service basis. Soeren holds an MSc in Mathematics and Physics from Aarhus University (Denmark) and an MS (Statistics) from UNC – Chapel Hill (USA), and a PhD in statistics and advanced probability from UNC – Chapel Hill. Kern started as an entrepreneur in 1998 when he founded voiceIT communications, offering voicemail services. Prior to that Kern graduated with distinction in Physics at the University of Hamburg after completing a research year at the Optoelectronics Research Centre in Southampton. Early in the new millenium Kern led the architecture and implementation of O2’s strategic SMS platform. During 2004 Kern worked for T-Mobile International driving technical design and implementation of a £2 million SMS/MMS alerting platform across T-Mobile’s European footprint. In 2005 Kern co-founded Mobile Interactive Group (MIG) and started as CTO. He was imperative to MIGs expansion to 200 employees over six years. In 2008 MIG was ranked No.1 in the Tech Track 100, securing the title of fastest growing technology company in the UK. MIG was acquired by NASDAQ listed Velti plc in November 2011 and Kern then acted as VP of Technology for the corporation. In 2014 Kern co-founded Fonix Mobile and guided the messaging and payments venture throughout its three year growth phase. In early 2016 he co-founded CFT Group, a brand new payments provider re-inventing direct debits through a revolutionary consumer incentive scheme: DUESDAY.
