He was playing instruments by 5 years old, with his first shows at age 12, recording his own albums by 13, and touring by 16 — he leans heavily toward the geeky side of sound. From small local clubs to international stadiums, metal to pop, Ryan’s career in live sound mixing has covered a lot of ground traveling the world with a ton of artists including Jessie J, Andy Grammer, Tove Lo, Banks, Liam Payne, Capital Cities and many more. Beyond just touring with pop and rock acts, he also designs audio consoles and software, mix records, and race cars. After Brendan Dreaper picked up the drums in middle school, live music became an important part of his life. With a number of diversions under his belt, which included studying economics and working as a professional glassblower, he returned to music and found his footing behind the mixing console. Working from bar gigs to local festivals and eventually to touring with Magic! and Snoh Aalegra, Brendan has had the pleasure of making live music happen. Outside of geeking out about live sound on a podcast, he likes to play drums with the band vverevvolf, produce music and get real nerdy about anything Lord of the Rings related. The third member of the trio, Joe Santarpia, is a live sound and recording/mixing engineer of 15 years, Tour Manager, Musician and Producer. His touring resume includes Mac Demarco, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Connan Mockasin, Best Coast, Surfer Blood, Inner Circle and others. Thirsty for Knowledge with Jerald and Jacory

  • Publisher: Jerald and Jacory
  • Total Episodes: 12

Two dads, two races, one mission: To explore everything we can about the human experience, not just to be better fathers, but to be better human beings. Our quest for knowledge has led us to seek leaders and game changers from all walks of life- people from diverse backgrounds, be it culturally, socially, economically or professionally while having fun along the way. Jerald (Co-Host) I’m a proud CODA. For those of you who don’t know, that means that I’m a Child of Deaf Adults. That’s right, both of my parents are deaf. This taught me to listen first and speak second. Even as a little kid, I was the voice for my parents when they needed interpreting and the cultural bridge between the hearing and deaf worlds. I found myself in the middle of fascinating conversations ranging from interpreting my own parent teacher conferences, to mistakenly telling my mom the doctor suggested she needed an exorcism instead of more exercise (I was 10). Clearly my communication skills were sharp from an early age. Throughout my life I have had a thirst for knowledge. My genuine curiosity has led me to a variety of unique experiences ranging from selling high end jewelry to royalty, fine art to celebrities, to leasing real estate to tech giants. I even tried finding love by collecting roses on National TV. This quest for knowledge has drawn me to people who have lived and loved in ways that I wasn’t able to experience. These conversations helped me gain valuable insights, making me a better person and most importantly a better father. Thirsty For Knowledge is a way for me to share my quest with you. Jacory (Co-Host) I am an actor and writer. I developed these passions because I liked portraying other people and being able to escape to another world, to realities other than my own. Writing and creating fantasies, comedies and heart-felt scripts gave me peace. Growing up in a small town thirty minutes north of San Francisco, it was very limited on the “sweet life” possibilities. So, after booking my first commercial I yearned for more and I made the move to Los Angeles in 2000 and signed with a commercial/theatrical agency. No friends, no family, just me. Luckily with a very outgoing personality I made friends and acquaintances quickly. Even after booking over 30 television jobs one would think that I had it all figured out. But, I still needed some time to learn myself, diving in and out of different ideas, plans and goals. I had to narrow it down to what makes me happy. I love acting, I love writing, but what makes me happy is meeting new people from all walks of life. I love learning, learning helps me grow as a man! And now as a proud father and husband, I am extremely thirsty to gain as much knowledge as possible. Not only to be a better dad and husband, but also to be a better person. And, of course, meeting new, talented, bright, funny, excitingly brilliant people along the way is just the icing on the cake!

Jessye Norman Interview

One of the most distinguished musical artists of our time, the singer Jessye Norman was born in Augusta, Georgia. As a ten-year-old child, she was spellbound by a recording of the great contralto Marian Anderson. Inspired by Anderson’s recordings and autobiography, she resolved to become a classical singer herself. At age 16, she won a full scholarship to study voice at Howard University. After graduate music studies at Peabody Conservatory, she went to Europe, where she was soon discovered by the Continent’s leading conductors and impresarios. She made her operatic debut in Tannhauser at Berlin’s Deutsche Oper. A dramatic soprano with a special affinity for the German repertoire, she has won acclaim in the operas of Wagner and Richard Strauss. Equally at home in French and Italian, she has enchanted audiences as Bizet’s Carmen and as Mozart’s Countess Almaviva. In addition to her concert roles. Her recitals and recordings have included American spirituals, French chansons and German lieder. From Haydn to Mahler to Schoenberg and Berg, from Satie and Poulenc to Gershwin and Bernstein, the range of Jessye Norman’s musical reach is breathtaking. She has conquered stages from Lincoln Center to Covent Garden, Carnegie Hall to the Musikverein, from La Scala to the Paris Opera and the Vienna State Opera, from Tokyo to San Francisco, Houston and Boston, from Granada to Graz and from Salzburg to Hong Kong. For the opening night of the Metropolitan Opera’s centennial season, she made history by singing the roles of both Cassandra and Dido in Les Troyens by Hector Berlioz. In 1989, she was chosen to embody the spirit of liberty, equality and fraternity, singing “La Marseillaise” during the bicentennial celebration of the French Revolution at the Place de la Concorde in Paris. Jessye Norman was interviewed by the Academy of Achievement in Washington, D.C. on July 22, 2012.
